Heart Haven: Beef up your snacks
Raspberry Smoothie/Raspberry Popsicles
Ingredients:
1 Cup whole milk yogurt
1 Cup frozen raspberries
1-2 Tbsp local honey
Handful of spinach
1 Tbsp MCT Oil
1-2 Scoops unflavored beef (bovine) collagen
Handful of ice
Water or milk
Instructions:
Pour all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth and creamy.
For popsicles, pour mixture into popsicle molds and freeze. Store in freezer.
Beef Jerky Trail Mix
Ingredients:
4 Tbsp butter
2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 tsp salt
3/4 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1 Cup pretzels or cheese crackers
4 Cups air popped popcorn
1 Cup almonds
1 Cup pumpkin seeds
1 Cup walnuts
1 Cup cashews
1 Cup dried unsweetened cherries
1/2 Cup dried cranberries
1 Cup beef jerky chopped
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350F
In a medium saucepan, heat butter and Worcestershire sauce over low heat. Stir in the salt, garlic powder, and onion powder.
Pour all dry ingredients into a large mixing bowl. Pour butter mixture over top and toss until everything is evenly coated.
Bake at 350F for 16-20 minutes.
Transfer dry mixture back into the large mixing bowl. Add dried cherries, cranberries, and beef jerky. Toss together and enjoy!
Store in individual sandwich bags or an airtight container.
