Don Terry, of Chester County, was named Region II Federation Vice President during the annual Cattle Industry Convention in San Antonio, TX. In this position Don will represent the Federation of Southeastern States, including Tennessee, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina on the Executive Board of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association. Don served on the Tennessee Beef Industry Council for 6 years, chairing the Board of Directors two years and is currently serving ex-officio as past chairman. He has represented Tennessee on the Federation of State Beef Councils serving on the Consumer Trust Committee.
“I have always had a desire to move forward in all my leadership roles, whether they have been in my personal business or serving my community or industry. I have tried to make decisions based on facts, as well as taking into consideration the long-term effects of future situations. I have been fortunate to work in several different segments of the cattle business and that has given me a broader view and understanding of the industry. In addition, working with the state beef council has given me a greater appreciation for the people that are involved and dedicated to the research, education, and promotional aspects of our business”, said Don while being considered for the position.
Don has been involved in the cattle industry most of his life as a cow/calf producer, buyer, backgrounder, and market operator. He is recently retired from Somerville Livestock Sales where he managed the livestock market for the past 18 years.
