Meet Your Farmer:

What areas of the Cattle industry is your farm involved in?

We farm in Robertson and Montgomery Counties alongside our family. Tom’s mom and dad, Mark and Betty Barnett, his two brothers Will and Matt own and operate Barnett Land and Cattle and Barnett Tobacco Company. We have a commercial cow/calf operation, feeder calf operation, and also raise tobacco, corn, soybeans, wheat and hay. It takes us all including my sister-in-laws Sarah and Paige to make it work most days. One thing that is different in our operation is we have two livestock markets, we own and operate Kentucky-Tennessee Livestock Market, Inc. in Guthrie, Ky and Cross Plains, TN. We really do love it. Tom bought into this business that was in his family in 2006. WE love our customers and we really love what we do, but I might add, we can’t do it by ourself. We have an great group of people that help us on the farm as well as the two stockyards.

Are you involved in any organizations off the farm?

i have served on the Clarksville Area Better Beef Steer Show Board, Heads Free Will Baptist Youth Advisory Council, and the Little Shepherd’s Lamb Show Committee. I severed six years on the Tennessee Beef Industry Council and currently serve as Tennessee Cattlewomen’s Vice President, and Co-chair of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau Women.

What is something intresting about you or your family?

Our Dog, Pepper, was the American Farm Bureau Southern Region Farm Dog of The Year and Runner-up to American Farm Bureau Farm Dog of the Year.
